Cabarete has many, many places to see on your vacation. However
don't expect to see everything in less than a day or even a week.
Most places can be reached by car, taxi and other public transportation.
BEST OF CABARETE
Best bar: lax! while eZe is a more relaxed place, lax is the place where more goes on after dark. this place provides that beach bar atmosphere that you look for when on an island. on the weekends, the DJ spins some excellent music. they serve decent food and drinks (the pitchers are a good thing when made by the right bartender.) the PPP special is a good one - a pizza, pasta, and pitcher. definitely try the lax pizza - pineapple, banana, and curry. yum!
Best sunset cocktail spot: on the waterfront restaurant! this is in sosua. the place is a bit rundown, but the view makes up for it. the sun sets across sosua bay with mt isabel de torres in the background. once it is dark, the lights of puerto plata come into sight. but hightail it out of sosua before the seedy hours really rev up!
Best surf school: 321takeoff! i only took a few lessons there, but they were good. i think they were the original surf school down at encuentro. they'll give a good deal on board rentals to locals.

Whale Watching in the Dominican Republic
Bay is where the action takes place for this exciting
nature excursion. Depending on your location, most tours depart
very early in the morning to ensure you get to Samaná in
plenty of time to enjoy a great day.
More than 10,000 Humpback Whales
Watch as more than 10,000 Humpback Whales return to the Dominican Republic
from their North American locations to breed and mate. Marine
guides will narrate your boat excursion, explaining mating and
breeding information about the whales and their behavior. Witnessing
these magnificent creatures, the most active of all whales, is
definitely an experience of a lifetime.
More than 20 Dive sites of underwater

a wreck. Cave diving, gardens and pyramids, all make diving a unique

This beautiful beach area is just after the Playa
Grande Golf Resort, just over an hour from Cabarete.
The sand is soft and white, and the water is clear and a magnificent
turquoise color, typical of the Caribbean. Open-air Dominican
restaurants line the streets and beaches in the area where you
can feast on delicious fresh seafood.
Located 15 minutes west of Cabarete, Sosua is a tourist town.
You can find most of the dive companies on the North Coast. The
beautiful Sosua Beach is the main attraction here and it is lined
with food stands, restaurants, bars, and a variety of shops selling
Boca de Yasica
Located 20 minutes east of Cabarete, you can reach this lagoon
by turning left off the main road at the Camino/Paraiso del Sol
Hotels entrance. Follow this road and turn right. After passing
these hotels keep left until you reach a dirt road that eventually
follows the ocean. There are few people, and along with the beautiful
ocean, you'll get a chance to see where the Boca de Yasica meets
the sea. A small restaurant sells fresh fish.
Dive with the Dolphins
You can go diving with the
dolphins right on Sosua Beach, with
experienced divers from the Dolphin
Dive Center. This safe and professional diving school
offers everything from diving, snorkelling, sailing, trophy extreme
tours, windsurfing and horseback riding.
